The Enhanced Canada Child Benefit Assists Families with Costs of Raising Children
November 25, 2017 – The Government of Canada’s new ‘Canada Child Benefit’ (CCB) provided $6,388,000 in financial support to low and middle class families in King-Vaughan for the month of July 2017. The Government made a total of 12,980 payments to families, which supported 23,410 children.
The CCB is a simpler way for families who need assistance to receive a monthly, tax-free payment. The CCB will help lift thousands of children out of poverty and, for families in King-Vaughan, this benefit helps cover the high costs of raising children. These payments are targeted to assist families who need it the most; the CCB will provide a maximum annual benefit of up to $6,400 (per child) under the age of 6 and up to $5,400 (per child), aged 6 through 17. Families who earn less than $30,000 in net income will receive the maximum benefit available.
